The temporary protection of Ukrainians in Poland has been extended until 2025

Refugees from Ukraine who need temporary protection will have it until September 30, 2025.

Payments will depend on the children's education

As in the previous versions of the document, which is adopted by the Council of Ministers of Poland, it is envisaged that benefits for refugees will be reduced. Also, social benefits continue to be tied to the education of children in public schools.

Social benefits will remain for those families whose children study in Polish public schools or kindergartens. This rule does not apply to those families whose children have not yet reached the age for school or preschool education.

You can change the status

Another innovation awaits Ukrainians in Poland. They will be able to change the status of temporary protection to a temporary stay (up to 3 years).

For this you need:

  • update your data in the PESEL UKR database;

  • submit a request to the voivode in electronic form at the place of residence;

  • have a PESEL UKR as of March 4, 2024.

The new law also cancels one-time assistance to refugees in the amount of 300 zlotys and compensation to the owners of private housing that accommodated refugees from Ukraine.
